In partnership with Wieden+Kennedy and Delta Airlines, the Open Air Gallery was created to shine a spotlight on a diverse group of up-and-coming local Miami artists—a community often overlooked amidst the ever-growing stature of Art Basel. Highlighting their commitment to supporting local communities wherever they fly, Delta commissioned six original works made from scrapped airplane parts, showcased during a one-night event held at the iconic 1111 Lincoln Road, designed by Herzog & de Meuron. I developed and designed the space in 3D using precise measurements taken on-site. This allowed us to create a detailed plan and event flow that highlighted the artists’ work while also celebrating the Delta brand and the unique architecture of the venue.

Artists Jillian Meyer and Olivia Pedigo pose next to their artistic contributions.

Runway-themed floor wayfinding guided guests through the space and helped them discover more about each artist via a central information hub. Visual and tactile nods to aviation appeared throughout the installation. To further spotlight the artists, we used large, gently curved clear acrylic boards displaying their names and contributions, along with coasters featuring their work, placed throughout the space.

Event lighting was designed to evolve over time, shifting as the sun set and the evening reception began. The one-day activation was a success, drawing hundreds of guests into the 25,000 sq. ft. space and earning media mentions in outlets including Nylon, Dezeen, Dujour, Essence, and Interview Magazine.
